My First Encounter with AI
Growing up, I thought Artificial Intelligence existed within the realms of the Hollywood fiction. Characters such as, Jarvis in Iron Man and HAL 9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey offered me glimpses into the futuristic and fascinating world of AI, which often seemed far from us.
That perception shifted dramatically one evening in November 2023 while I was working on a research paper. I had just downloaded a 75-page document from Google Scholar when my brother called me, brimming with excitement. “Check the link I just sent you. Type any question you like into the prompt box,” he urged. That day, I encountered AI in real life - not a humanoid robot with glowing eyes, nor a sentient computer plotting world domination, but a powerful digital tool capable of transforming the way we work and think.
Contrary to the Hollywood fiction, AI was just a quiet web page with a text box that said, “Ask me anything.”
Fear and Excitement
At first, I froze.
This was the stuff of science fiction, right? Machines that could write,
answer, explain, even create?
My first reaction was not excitement – It was fear. You see, writing had always been my thing — my
skill, my art, my income. So, the thought of a robot that could write?
Terrifying. But curiosity got the better of me, and I gave it a try.
That week changed how I viewed AI. For seven days straight,
work felt seamless. I was using AI for everything –
rephrasing, expanding my points, adding transitions, polishing paragraphs. It
was like having an invisible assistant who never slept and never ran out of
ideas.
And to be honest, it paid off. That week, I made more money
than usual. AI detectors weren’t really a thing yet, and clients were amazed by
how fast I was delivering polished, insightful papers. However, word spread
quickly – and so did the hype about AI among writers.
But then came the twist.
AI detectors arrived, and suddenly, it felt like the lights
went out in the writing world. Every writer I knew started to panic. And I did
too. For a moment, I saw my career flash before my eyes. Was this the end of
human creativity and my job as a writer?
What Does the Future Hold?
Fast-forward two years later – I’m still here. Still
writing. Still creating.
Sure, AI has flooded the market, but it has not replaced the
human voice. It has not replaced the human spark that connects
ideas to emotions. Over these years, AI has become my partner – not my rival.
So here I am, starting this blog – Tech Bites Daily
– to explore the world of technology, one bite at a time.
So far, I have learned that the future is not about machines
taking over; it’s about learning to work with them.
Welcome to the future of innovation — bite by bite.
